Congratulations and best wishes for the Career Guidance Unit of Uva Wellassa University! The Career Guidance Units that have been established in the University system of Sri Lanka is a turning point in the Higher Education sector which have also immensely contributed for the betterment of the prospective graduates. Particularly, at the juncture where a graduate is exposed to the world of work as an employee, he or she should be well-prepared for the upcoming challenges with a broad awareness and an accommodative personality. The main function of the Career Guidance unit is to produce such competent graduates and to achieve that the implementation of different programmes is commendable. It is crucial to recognize the student’s abilities and then promote them and move forward through motivation and guidance. The annually held programmes such as Career fair and the Skill development programs are prominent. In addition, it is quite significant that this unit focuses on the mental development of the students through individual career counseling sessions. Furthermore, I am extremely happy to reflect on the services provided within the university as well as for the community such as schools and government institutions in Uva province. Thus, to ensure that the university student will not be a job seeker but a job creator and to prepare students for that, I pray that Mother Sri Lanka will be blessed by a generation of quality graduates from Uva Wellassa University who will excel in entrepreneurship and professional fields of Sri Lanka.
